Eat among natural splendor or beside haute art this weekend
Winter Farm Day
Sunday is Winter Farm Day at Bee Heaven Farm. CSA members, Slow Food members and local farmers will lunch al fresco at this annual potluck. There will be music, scarecrow making for kids, and samples of student chef recipes. I’ve never been, so I’m looking forward to meeting other local food folks. You should bring a covered dish made with some local foods to share and $10 to support the agricultural internship program.

Art Basel for Foodies
So the fabulous week of overwhelming fabulousness begins. My mind shuts down after staring at page after page of events in 9 point font. I’ll let my appetite lead the way! Some food related events to consider:
Food for Art’s Sake
Palette is the five-day restaurant at Art Miami. Chef Sean Brasel of Touch is the chef and mastermind. I’m sure there will be suitably artful dishes, within the range of $7 to $13. I got the scoop from All Purpose Dark.

Art Appetit
If you’re like me, ice cream served in a floating pool of ice cold vodka is your idea of a spectacular art event. Paradise Farms joins with a veritable Justice League of South Florida chefs to blur the lines between food and art. The chefs will build and carve amazing edible structures (up to six feet tall) for the public. Tim Andriola of Timo, Michael Schwarz of Michael’s Genuine, Sandee Birdsong, Giancarla Bodoni of Escopazzo and Mark Zetouni of Lido/The Standard are among the 20 plus chefs participating. The press release says that hors d’oeuvres will be passed at the opening event at the South Beach Ritz Carlton, but specifics are not given about the other events. Soli Organic Ice Cream will float at Casa Décor’s event. Hopefully we’ll get to partake of some of that too! If you haven’t seen Casa Décor, that alone is worth a visit.
